… plant “hairs” … these are fine outgrowths of one or more cells on the epidermis (surface) of leaves or stems. They are of diverse structure and function. Some are branched, some straight. Some are glandular and secrete chemicals, others are important in providing shade to the leaf itself. They also tend to deter feeding by insects.
